Abstract

The minimum computer literacy standard for Masaryk University (MU) students was worked out on the basis of acknowledged definitions, standards and certification schemes used in Europe and the U.S. However, it took into account MU specifics, as well as the needs of the target audience, i.e. 44 thousand MU students of all fields, types and forms of study. Principal subject matters of existing general computer literacy standards were defined and, using authors' knowledge of the MU milieu, transformed into principal subject matters of the newly developed standard and an e-learning course of minimum computer literacy which is under preparation at the moment.
