The author methodologically applies Zygmunt Bauman's concept of the so-called "conceptual Jew" to the statements of Slovak politicians about George Soros. In the study, the author analyses the statements of politicians from the parties SMER – SSD, ĽSNS, Republika, Slovenské Hnutie Obrody, and of former presidential candidate Štefan Harabin. The author does not neglect the aspect of humor and caricature. The author then puts the statements of Slovak politicians about George Soros into the broader historical context of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. 2024-12-17T00:00:00+01:00 Copyright © 2025 Sacra https://journals.phil.muni.cz/sacra/article/view/40000 Hex the patriarchy : about the history of feminist witchcraft and how witches on social media correspond to it and shape it 2025-01-09T17:51:06+01:00 Julia Verbeek email@journals.phil.muni.cz "Hex the Patriarchy" examines the interplay between feminist witchcraft and social media. Given the rising visibility of feminist witchcraft on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, the paper delves into the historical evolution of feminist witchcraft from the second wave feminism to the present fourth wave, which is marked by its online mode of resistance. Through social media, contemporary feminist witches draw upon and reframe historical feminist struggles, adapting witchcraft's symbols of resistance and empowerment to suit a global, intersectional feminist discourse. By analyzing digital platforms, the paper illustrates how these contemporary witches navigate, transform, and commodify witchcraft, creating both spaces of community and personal branding. The study ultimately positions digital feminist witchcraft as a complex and evolving force within the broader feminist movement, using the online world to foster solidarity while contending with commercialization and visibility. 2024-12-17T00:00:00+01:00 Copyright © 2025 Sacra https://journals.phil.muni.cz/sacra/article/view/40001 Girard and the sacred : a mimetic approach to religion 2025-01-09T17:51:06+01:00 Emilio Moreno Villanueva email@journals.phil.muni.cz This article explores René Girard's anthropological perspective on religion, extending its application beyond conventional religious spheres to encompass broader societal phenomena. Girard's theory illuminates how mimetic processes influence cultural norms and institutions, particularly in the formation of religious practices and societal structures. At the core of Girard's framework lies the notion of the scapegoat mechanism, whereby communal tensions are alleviated through the scapegoating of a sacrificial victim, temporarily restoring social harmony. This article not only examines Girard's viewpoint but also critically engages with poststructuralist and substantive approaches to religion in religious studies. It will also contend how Girard's mimetic theory provides a valuable lens for analyzing the intricate dynamics of religion and societal order as it offers significant insights into the nexus of sacred beliefs, violence, and cultural narratives in contemporary contexts, underscoring the profound impact of religion on human behavior and social cohesion. 2024-12-17T00:00:00+01:00 Copyright © 2025 Sacra https://journals.phil.muni.cz/sacra/article/view/40002 Austrian druidry and its understanding of sacred places 2025-01-09T17:51:07+01:00 Julia Verbeek email@journals.phil.muni.cz 2024-12-17T00:00:00+01:00 Copyright © 2025 Sacra https://journals.phil.muni.cz/sacra/article/view/40003 Interdisciplinarity of the study of religions at Masaryk University : goals and expectations according to the heads of CEDRR, LEVYNA, and DISSINET 2025-01-09T17:51:07+01:00 Petra Houserová email@journals.phil.muni.cz Tomáš Kunert email@journals.phil.muni.cz Terezie Spáčilová email@journals.phil.muni.cz Martin Lang email@journals.phil.muni.cz David Zbíral email@journals.phil.muni.cz Tomáš Glomb email@journals.phil.muni.cz 2024-12-17T00:00:00+01:00 Copyright © 2025 Sacra https://journals.phil.muni.cz/sacra/article/view/40004 The Department's for Study of Religions visit to Znojmo 2025-01-09T17:51:07+01:00 Tomáš Kunert email@journals.phil.muni.cz Barbora Kormaňáková email@journals.phil.muni.cz 2024-12-17T00:00:00+01:00 Copyright © 2025 Sacra https://journals.phil.muni.cz/sacra/article/view/40005 A selection of titles from Czech and Slovak interdisciplinary scholarship on religion 2025-01-09T17:51:07+01:00 Matouš Mokrý email@journals.phil.muni.cz Aleš Hodes email@journals.phil.muni.cz 2024-12-17T00:00:00+01:00 Copyright ©
