Abstrakt

This study examines Jana Kuzmíková's Kognitívna literárna veda [Cognitive Literary Science], which introduces a novel interdisciplinary approach to literary communication by integrating the humanities with the natural sciences. The monograph is grounded in the concept of embodiment and places a strong emphasis on empirical research involving real readers. It identifies metaphor as a fundamental cognitive tool in literary thought, extending beyond traditional interpretations. Furthermore, it critically reassesses historical approaches to literary scholarship, highlights the role of the reader, and establishes rigorous methodological standards for studying literariness and reception. This paradigm shift enables a deeper exploration of the dynamics of literary consciousness, emotion, and aesthetic effects, ultimately advancing literary research toward a more systematic and empirically grounded understanding of literary phenomena.
