The article deals with the transformation of the independent judiciary of Czechoslovakia since February 1948 to the instrument of political persecution of totalitarian regime after the seizure of power by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. Shows role of JUDr. Alexej Čepička, who became Minister of Justice in February 1948, during this process. Finally this article depicts consequences of the removal of an independent judiciary within 1948–1952.
