Abstract
Brentano’s theory of time and time consciousness belongs among the main topics of his philosophy. It presents a number of connected topics dominated by two questions. How should we ontologically describe time? How do we perceive time? These questions found various answers in a series of diverse positions worked out from the beginning of Brentano’s philosophical work during his Würzburg professorship till the last moments before his death. This study aims at outlining the interplay of the issues in Brentano´s analysis of time and presenting it as a rich source of philosophical puzzles that remain open for further treatment.
