K možnostem měření religiozity v kontextu současných proměn spirituality

Abstrakt

The article critically examines established approaches to measuring religiosity in Czech sociology of religion and highlights their limitations in capturing contemporary religious and spiritual experience. As a proposal for extending existing approaches, it introduces an essential-spiritual approach grounded in the micro-level of Gauthier’s model of religion. The study distinguishes between religious and non-religious spirituality and transcendence and proposes their operationalization for quantitative research. The new indicators are tested on a representative sample of the Czech population, and their reliability is assessed using exploratory factor analysis. The findings suggest that this approach significantly broadens the framework for capturing the plurality of lived spirituality in the contemporary post-secular context.
