Peer review
Studia archaeologica Brunensia is a peer-reviewed scientific journal; therefore, all papers published must meet the relevant professional and formal criteria. All scientific articles are peer-reviewed, whereas reviews and reports are not.
Each manuscript is reviewed by two researchers who are independent of the editorial board and are not employed in the author’s parent institution. The review process is anonymous; the author is not given the names of reviewers. The reviewers, on the other hand, are given the name of the author, in order to identify the possible previous publication of the same or a very similar text in another periodical and to assess whether or not the author sufficiently cites the work of other researchers.
The peer review process examines the authenticity and quality of the paper, the argumentative structure of the text, its linguistic aspect, the accuracy of the abstract and key words, the completeness of bibliographic references, and the quality and relevance of illustrations, etc. The author is asked to revise his/her manuscript in response to the suggestions of the reviewers. If the author refuses to revise the manuscript (without giving relevant reasons), his or her paper is rejected. The final decision on the publication of texts falls within the competence of the chairman of the editorial board.
