The degree of recognizing immediately a concrete Ancient Greek dialect in the speech of a native speaker, as perceived by an average Athenian listener, is the main aim of this article. The author tried to evaluate the most important dialectal interrelations between Attic and all the other groups of Ancient Greek dialects. In this way, he was able to characterize Euboean Ionic, Laconian, Cretan, Elean, as well as Lesbian, Boeotian and Cypriot as quite easily recognizable Ancient Greek dialects, on a chronological level of ca. 350 B. C.
