Author Guidelines
Guideline for Contributors: Submission Criteria
Graeco-Latina Brunensia is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal. Therefore, all contributions must meet the established formal and academic criteria. GLB welcomes submissions concerning all the aforementioned fields of research. Based on the independent reviews, the Editorial Board of GLB makes decisions on publication and scheduling. The editor always timely informs the authors about the reviewers’ assessments. Submissions are allowed to be in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Latin. The submissions must be in .doc or .rtf format and .pdf.
Formal Adjustment
The submissions should not exceed 35,000 characters including footnotes (if a submission does exceed this limit, editors have to be consulted). Reviews, reports and additional information should not exceed 7,000 characters. Submissions should be accompanied by abstract and key words in English with the maximum length of 1,800 characters.
For all foreign language submissions, the journal requires proof-reading provided by a native speaker with the proper erudition. The journal’s formal criteria must be accepted and retained, the author can be asked for the formal adjustment of the submission. The journal reserves the privilege to do any language or formal emendations of all texts (though, the particular changes have to be approved by the author).
Formal requirements
Line spacing: 1
Font size: 12 pts.
Font: „UNICODE“ Times New Roman / Palatino Lino Type (Ancient Greek incl.); if any other special fonts are used, they have to be included in the submission.
Figures and supplements: ideally in separate files.
Abbreviated citations of Classical works: we recommend the lists of abbreviations published in Thesaurus Linguae Latinae and in the Greek dictionary LIDDELL-SCOTT; for medieval works with no fixed usage, we recommend that the authors introduce their own abbreviations (their list should be a part of bibliography).
Citations: we recommend short citations given in the text, longer in footnotes, always shortened as follows: Canfora (2001: pp. 45-58); Canfora (2001a: p. 58); etc.
Title and author’s affiliation: title in the language of the submission and in English accompanied by the name of the author, complete name (academic titles and position incl., complete address of author’s home institution, and contact information (e-mail) will be stated at the end.
Abstract and summary: each submission must include an abstract and key words in English at the beginning of it.
Footnotes and tables / charts: generated automatically
Latin quotations, Titles of literary works: in Italics.
Works cited: should be traceable at the end (Bibliography) in the following form (APA style):
