The topic of this paper is an analysis of the lexical system used by Iosif Brodsky in his cycle "Twenty Sonnets to Mary, Queen of Scots". Its main aim is to establish and analyze the causes of the inconsistencies of lexical components in the cycle which is rather different from the canonical model of sonnet.
