A Romanesque church in Rákoš

Abstract
Archaeological research into the Church of the Holy Trinity in the village of Rákoš has shown that the building, first mentioned in written records in 1318, originated before the end of the 13th century. It was constructed on a site upon which metal-working furnaces had stood in the 11th–12th centuries. The ground plan of the church, with a rectangular nave and a horseshoe-shaped apse, has survived unchanged, with a sacristy added to the north side of the building shortly after initial construction. The interior, richly decorated with wall paintings from the 14th century, was modified in the 17th century when it was equipped with baroque furniture.
