The article deals with the question of how the models of world shown in literary works could be studied, described and followed in their development. The model of H. Taine which counts on three basic factors - race, environs and historical moment could not fulfil the role of the basic initial point because there is no "pure" race in the world. Instead of the race the culture defined as synergie complex of both social and individual physical, material, instrumental and psychological interactions of man with his surroundings could be taken into account. In that way the variety of models of the world within th esame culture can be understood as the result of dynamic interaction of (sub)cultures.
