Current awareness of the work of the painter Judas Thaddäus Supper (1712–1771) relates almost exclusively to the Moravská Třebová and Zábřeh regions, where he worked in particular for churches under the administration of the Liechtensteins. In this context, his work in Bohemia, represented by commissions for the Šlik Church in Slatiny and for the Cistercians in Sedlec, seemed to be only marginal. However, numerous newly discovered works recorded mainly in eastern Bohemia and intended for a diverse range of clients (the Trauttmansdorfs, the Hohenembs's, the Dietrichsteins, the Kinský's, etc.), considerably modify this view and present Supper, a painter from Moravská Třebová as a local art centre, in a new light.
