Attitude to death, perception of death, and man's preagonal condition - their expression through literary tropes in Valentin Rasputin's short story Farewell to Matyora

Abstract
This article's purpose is to analyse the fixed phrases, proverbs, saws, and other lexical and stylistic tropes creating the literary picture of death in V. Rasputin's Farewell to Matyora. Of the wide range of issues concerning death the focus here is on its two aspects: perception of death by the protagonists and their reflections upon its inevitability and nearness.
