Russia in contemporary Russian prose

Abstract
Many young and experienced storytellers entering a modern contemporary Russian prose of the new century thematise today's Russia and life in it. In the author's strategy concerning the view of the present day Russia prevails the distance from the historical memory of the parents' generation. A new generation of prose writers is confronted with a cultivated vision of Russia and the lived social and moral reality of ordinary Russian people. Even modern and young Russian people have a deep emotional relationship to cultural myths and demythicised knowledge about the country they belong to. Russia is first of all respected historical and cultural traditions and different people with different destinies, hopes, possibilities which set them in motion in the name of a specific common idea or a unique personal experience.
