Names of speech acts and genres typical of each language reflect the ways of communication and enable to see them as a certain entity. Therefore the article focuses on the lexemes directly defining speech-related activities and naming commissive texts. Their wide semantic range and the invariant intention are expressed by hyperonims such as: assurance, promise and obligation. The comparative analysis of this area in Polish and Russian enables to determine cultural and linguistic specificity of the investigated units.
