The fifth paw of the Russian government in Victor Pelevin's novel "Generation P"

Abstract
This article deals mainly with the portrayal of state power in Victor Pelevin's novel "Generation P". Victor Pelevin is one of the most popular postmodern and contemporary Russian writers, and his books are among the most read and translated. The novel presents a simulation of the reality of the 1990s created by the author. Pelevin describes the dirty practices of the Russian government, and gives us a version that such group does not even exist, and it is all just an illusion, created by computers. The article also draws attention to the problem of manipulating with human consciousness through television. In conclusion, the article states that the phenomenon of the fifth paw is the most important element, because the government is necessary and cannot but be this paw, because it acts very brazenly and openly, and that is why it triumphs.
