The contribution is divided into two topics. At first, the author attepmps to put Josef Dobrovsky in a broader spectrum of his personality, analyzes his references to Freemasons in the first Czechoslovak Republic and answer the question "Why Josef Dobrovsky and Freemasonry?". In the second part he deals with the particular Masonic lodges which reported his name and claimed to Dobrovsky's link.
