Rozpory národního obrození: modernost 19. století a nacionalismy

Vol.17,No.2(2014)

Abstract
This article focuses on some paradoxical parameters in literary historical positions of Slovenian and Czech revival movements faced with the reality of cultural and political circumstances under the Habsburg rule; this positions are not necessary to be viewed as belated but rather as legitimate asymmetries of cultural and literary developments in Central European entities. In order to understand adequately the paradoxes of the revival efforts, an analysis of the idea of modernity is carried out to explain the national emancipatory goals in face of the reinterpretation of modernity in the nineteenth century.
