Vol.17,No.2(2014)

Abstract
This article shows a general analysis of the first collection of Emil Boleslav Lukacs in the context of the traditions of Slovak modernism. We focused on poetic similarity of Lukacs poetry with the most expressive figure of Slovak Modernism – I. Krasko). At the same time we have managed to find connection Lukacs poetry with the early European symbolism (especially with the French: Verlaine, Malarme, Rimbaud). Lukacs addresses to the problems of the human soul, shows us the way of intuitive comprehension of the world. In Lukacs miniatures often can be traced motives of sadness, melancholy. All these things are the best illustration of communications with the symbolist poetic tradition.
