Genology does not divide literature primarily based on time and space, but based on literary criteria. Thanks to this, writing the history of one genre or kind of literature enables one to consider multiple literatures. Clean genres occur very rarely. They also change in time and mix (for example in lyrical drama). Therefore, kinds and genres are more like a framing concept, based on which some texts display similarities; they are an abstraction, to which the texts relate, so that typological similarities may be recognized. Categorizing the text as a certain kind and genre is also a matter of interpretation. In turn, this categorization can help with the interpretation of the work.
