Abstract
The two different translations of Karel Čapek's book Talks with T. G. Masaryk appeared almost at the same time. The first was the Croat edition in Boško Vračarević's translation (Zagreb, 1938), and the second was Serbian edition in Krešimir Georgijević's translation (Novi Sad, 1938). On one hand, the book was published in a significant historical moment and had important political meaning, and on the other, it was an unfavorable moment. As the book was published at the end of 1938 the reviews of this edition were written both with necrologies about Čapek's death. It was also time of turbulent historical events, which was the reason the Serbian critics had interpreted the book more as a praise of the author and the expression of support to the Czechoslovak people in that difficult political situation, than the significant political document and philosophical work.
