The previous research on the specificity of artistic text (Lubomír Doležel, Zdeněk Mathauser) and its translation, especially that of poetry (Jorge Luis Borges) shows that the substance of artistic text can be expressed more faithfully by free translation. The author illustrates this argument using examples from her own translation of poetry.
