The process of European integration, which is in the region of the former Yugoslavia at the beginning, is one of the greatest attributes of contemporary social changes. It can be assumed that the South-Slavic languages one day become official languages of the EU. It can change their position in the wider context of European language family. This article attempts to analyze the possible answers to questions how the enlargement of South-Slavic languages influence the language policy of the EU and how it should be reflected this new reality in teaching of South-Slavic languages. These issues relate to the question of how in the current EU draft teaching and popularizing of the South-Slavic languages as foreign languages. The article notes the fact that the teaching of South-Slavic languages in the coming years will be driven by other needs than in previous decades.
