Abstract
The article analyzes the translations of the classic work of Ukrainian literature — the poem "Eneida" by Ivan Kotlyarevsky into Belarusian, Georgian, German, Russian, Romanian, Czech, and other languages. The author draws attention to the characteristics of proper and literary translation, reveals the specifics of the author's perception of the translated text and the reason for the popularity of travesty works in European literatures.
