The confessionalisms in Latin poetry of the Ukrainian baroque

Vol.32,No.2(2022)

Abstract
The article considers the peculiarities of the use of confessionalisms in Latin poetry of Ukrainian baroque in such genres as elegy, ode and epigram. It was determined that the use of mythological motives in Christian context became the distinguishing trait of these poems. The most frequent epithets for describing Christian God and Godmother were analyzed along with the means of verbalization of paradise and the underworld. A single group of Graeco-Roman epithets was marked for drawing the Christian God, which states the fact of contamination of the two worlds. It was ascertained that Latin language of the Ukrainian poetry was under the influence of the baroque aesthetics and poetry, with its variety of linguostylistic innovations, preserving the lexical, grammatical and syntactic rules of the classical Latin.
