Evaluation approaches to information management in state administration
Vol.3,No.1(2011)
Methodological Issues in Library and Information Studies and Current Research in the Field
Information and communication management should be a common part of the strategic and operational management in each organization in the information age. In connection with the rapid development of new information and communication technology, information and communication processes should be continuously analysed. On the basis of the results of this analysis they should be evaluated and updated to new requirements and modern trends. This article provides the answer to the question how such analysis could be performed. In the beginning of the article, one of the internationally-known tools for this purpose the so called information audit (according to Susan Henczel's methodology) - is briefly introduced. The second part points to the entry decisions to the methodological planning process before a comprehensive analysis of information management in state administration institutions. In addition, the article provides an overview of potential research methods including details of their specific applications, among which we can name the mystery shopping, needs analysis, content analysis, SWOT analysis and expert interviews. In conclusion, the article shows that you can also use the introduced approach for the realization of a comparative analysis between several institutions.
