Open access
This journal adheres the Open Access policy and is a so-called "golden" journal that publishes contributions in "Libre Open Access" mode under the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY-SA 4.0 International license (full text available at: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode (CC BY-SA 4.0 International).
1. Information about CC BY-SA 4.0 International
CC BY-SA 4.0 International are publicly available licensing terms that define the conditions under which a work may be used. These conditions must be respected - non-compliance therewith results in infringement of copyright. CC BY-SA 4.0 International grant users certain rights and sets them certain obligations.
CC BY-SA 4.0 International authorize the user to "share" the work, i.e. copy, distribute and communicate to the public online. At the same time, the work can be included in a collection (e.g. a journal, conference proceedings) or modified - adapted or amended. It also allows the whole or part of the licensed work to be merged with another protected subject-matter of protection (creatively modified, edited, also new creative works may be created based upon the original underlying work). The works made available under the CC BY-SA 4.0 International licensing terms may be used for commercial purposes by third parties. However, the payment must not be obtained for the use of the work (which is available under CC BY-SA 4.0 International), but for example for additional services or the medium.
CC BY-SA 4.0 International oblige the user to indicate the origin of the work (i.e., title, author, source, and reference to the licensing terms) and share the derivative works (adaptations) based upon the underlying work under the same licensing terms. The use of the underlying work without its adaptation does not imply the obligation to license a new work in which the original work was used under the same licensing terms. However, the copyright regime of the new work does not affect the work made available under CC BY-SA 4.0 International.
CC BY-SA 4.0 International does not limit statutory licenses, especially the quotation one, in particular. Citing parts of the work made available under these licensing terms does not give rise to an obligation to make the work in which the quotation was used to license it under the same licensing terms.
CC BY-SA 4.0 International does not exclude copyright protection, claims arising from it or the realization of the personal and property rights of the author of the work.
2. Practical implications
The publication of the work under the public license terms CC BY-SA 4.0 International has, among other things, the following copyright consequences:
- everyone is entitled to:
- share the work – i.e. reproduce, print, distribute (e.g. using P2P networks, upload on file-hosting servers or publishing websites)
- create a derivative (adapted) works based upon the work (e.g. translate)
- even for commercial purposes
- the authorized user is obliged to:
- to indicate the origin, ie to indicate the author, name, source (i.e. the journal), or in the form chosen by the author, and a reference to the license terms CC BY-SA 4.0 International
- TASL acronym could be used to memorize the information that must be mentioned:
- T – title,
- A – author (author, or rightholder or database maker),
- S – source
- L – license – a reference to the full version of the public licensing terms CC BY-SA 4.0. – International. In printed publications, it is necessary to include the URL link
- ShareAlike – i.e. “maintain the license” – that is to share the creative derivative works (adaptations) based upon the underlying work under the same license as the underlying original
- the work:
- will always be available to others -> newly created content (created by the creative work based upon the original work) cannot be "locked" into a standard copyright protection regime – it will always have to be available under CC BY-SA 4.0 International public licensing terms
- can be uploaded to e-learning platforms
- can be stored in topical and institutional repositories in the form of "publisher's edition", i.e. in the reviewed version, including final formatting and correction
- can be also used for commercial purposes
Digital access and archiving policy
Full texts of articles are available in the Digital Library of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, which is the primary source and repository of academic publications at the Faculty of Arts. The journal websites (built in Open Journal Systems) contain links to the fulltext articles archived in the Digital Library. The journal website is used mainly as a presentation platform for accessing all the information about the journal.
This approach to long-term access and digital archiving of fulltexts "in one place" (i.e., in the Digital Library) is a strategic decision that was adopted by the Faculty of Arts many years ago. It allows us to ensure high-quality and consistent processing of metadata as well as long-term preservation (LTP) of digital documents, enabling users to search through all the texts
Publication fees, financing
The journal does not have any article submission charges (ASCs) or any article processing charges (APCs). The publishing is financed by Masaryk University from subsidy for development of research institution.
