The study is focuses on the topic of the collective identity of the Bratislava Germans during the period of the first Czechoslovak Republic and it studies it as a variable value applied to the period of the historical events during after the formation of the new state. Based on the historical circumstances and a primary research of the German press in Bratislava the project identifies the reasons for the breaking point in the issue of the Bratislava Germans self determination from the so-called "Deutschungarn" (i.e. German Hungarians as members of the Hungarian Kingdom nation ) to true Germans ( called "germanspeeched" Bratislava inhabitants ). In the paper the reasons, relationships, arguments and specifics of this human identity transformation, together with the speech and cultural struggle within the new Czechoslovakian state, has been discussed.
