Rituální vražda ve středověkém a raně novověkém Španělsku

Roč.21,č.1(2023)

Abstrakt
This work analyzes the accusations of ritual murder against Jews. In the introductory part, its historical-cultural context and its specific division will be outlined. Furthermore, the symbolic mechanisms with which this anti-Jewish legend works will be presented: specifically, the resemblance to sacred events, the inversion of sacred symbols, and layering with other conspiratorial conceptions. In the second part of the text, these findings will then be related to the specifically Spanish Catholic context in medieval and early modern times. This will be illustrated in particular by the stories of The Child from La Guardia and Dominguito del Val that played a local role in shaping the Spanish Catholic identity and establishing the division of society into "Us" and "The Other".
