On School Power and Powerlessness of Children

Abstract

The paper points out the problems associated with the predominantly negative attitude in the educationalist discourse in the Slovak Republic towards investigation of  school power. This attitude has to do with some serious theoretical and practical shortcuts and complicating factors. The author uses examples from practice to demonstrate the negative implications of  this kind of attitude, pointing out the complexity of  operation of power and the link between power and children’s freedom.
