Communication Processes at the 2nd Level of Basic School with Focus on Participants' Spatial Arrangement
Vol.13,No.1(2008)
School and Location
Within pedagogical communication in the classroom certain zones arise which are characterized by increased levels of communication activity on the part of both students and teachers. Although pedagogical literature does speak of spatial communication zones and characterize them, the results of the empirical study presented in the paper do not match this traditional picture.
The study presented here is a quantitative-qualitative pilot study. Besides the topography of communication zones, the topics addressed include the ways in which teacher’s movement around the class affects pedagogical communication, the system of inviting students to speak and teacher’s use of the place map of the class.
