  • Cover Letter (indicating to which section and, for English-language papers, to which Call for Papers the paper is submitted).
  • Text of the study (non-anonymised): indicating the name(s), and workplace(s) of the author(s) (if applicable, their ORCID) and contact details of the corresponding author (in the journal template).
  • Text of the study (anonymized): without the possibility of identifying the authors (including metadata removed from the file).

Author Guidelines

Note to authors: The journal publishes English writing studies only in special issues!
Therefore, submissions are only accepted in response to the call for papers.

Manuscript Submission

The journal Studia Pedagogica contains the following sections: Studies, and Emerging Researchers. Papers are subject to a peer-review process (see below).

For the Studies section, we accept empirical, theoretical, and review papers no longer than 8,000 words, excluding references. Studies should reflect the current state of knowledge in the international educational discourse and contribute original findings that enrich the existing knowledge within the field.

For the Emerging Researchers section, we accept empirical, theoretical, and review papers of beginning authors who have not yet completed their doctoral degree studies. Full length papers should be no longer than 8,000 words, excluding references.

For polythematic issues, we only accept manuscripts in Czech and Slovak. On the contrary, we only accept manuscripts in English for special issues. Manuscripts in English offered in special issues must correspond to one of the current calls for papers (Call for Papers).

The submitted manuscript has the following structure: title, name(s), and workplace(s) of the author(s) (if applicable, their ORCID), abstract in maximum length of 200 words, keywords, contact details for the corresponding author, the main text of the study, and an alphabetically listed reference list.

Manuscripts must be submitted in two files. The first file contains the non-anonymised manuscript. The second file is to be anonymized. Hence, it should not contain the names of the authors or any further information that could lead to their identification (e.g., dedication to a grant project).

Manuscripts should be submitted via Open Journal System. Authors are notified once their manuscripts are accepted for the peer-review process. Studia Paedagogica does not charge processing fees from the author(s).

Peer-Review Process

This journal operates a double-blind review process. All contributions will be initially assessed by the editor for suitability for the journal. Papers deemed suitable are then typically sent to a minimum of two independent reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. The length of the review process depends on the availability of reviewers. Notification of the outcome of the review process is typically provided to the author within approximately three months from the date of receiving the manuscript.

Where reviewers assess the paper positively, the text is returned to the author(s) together with requirements for alterations to be made in the manuscript. The editors also specify a deadline for implementing the recommendations of the review reports and resubmission of the text. The revised version should be accompanied by a detailed list of the main changes made (in the form of a Letter to the Reviewers and highlighting the changes in the text). Manuscripts nominated for major revision are evaluated by the original reviewers again. Manuscripts nominated for minor revision are evaluated by the editors of the journal. The Main Executive Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript. The editorial office decision is final.

Articles are edited and proofread by our editorial staff when they are accepted for publication; authors are given the chance to review the edited version (with changes tracked) prior to publication. This step gives authors the opportunity to clarify any points of confusion, and helps us to ensure that the published texts are clear and consistent in their presentation.

  • Spacing: 1.5
  • Font: Times New Roman.
  • The manuscript must contain the title, name(s), and workplace(s) of the author(s) (if applicable, their ORCID), abstract in maximum length of 200 words, keywords, contact details for the corresponding author, the main text of the study, and an alphabetically listed reference list.
  • Chapters are to be numbered up to a maximum of level 3 (1, 1.1, 1.1.1).
  • Pages must be numbered.

Figures should be provided in print quality as a separate file.
  • The language and formal level of the manuscript are the sole responsibility of the author and are part of the criteria for the overall assessment of submissions. The editors reserve the right to make language and formal changes in the manuscript.
